By what Authority

Monday, 16-12-13

Readings for the day:

Numbers 24:2-7,15-17a
Psalm 25:4-5ab,6,7cd,8-9
Matthew 21:23-27

By whose authority do we live our Lives, Is it by the way of heaven or that of men? Do we live in such a way to please men rather than God?. Does our Lives serve as a challenge to the Authority of Christ on earth and his Church whom he chose to guide us?. Jesus asked the chief priests and elders of his time who challenged his Authority where the baptism of John is from? They fail to conform their ways to the call of John, for if they had accepted his call of repentance, they wouldn’t have challenged Jesus’s Authority for their mind would be open for his message.

Let us search within our soul, whatever may be found wanting in our lives, throwing a punch to the Authority of God, let us call out to God for a change of heart. Let us seek the sacrament of reconciliation to be washed as white as snow, so that we can continually conform with God here on earth and live under his Authority. May we then seek Jesus to show us the heart of the Father. And together we proclaim, “Teach us your paths, O Lord and grant us your salvation”.
