Persevere to the end!

Readings of the day:

1 Kings 11:4-13
Psalm 106:3-4, 35-37, 40
Mark 7:24-30

May our heart never be far away an inch from the love of God. May our voices always sing his praises and our hands always proclaim the glory of the king of kings.

In the first reading, we hear of the incident that occurred to Solomon in his old age; his heart departed from the God whom he had always served.

We may be in the shoes of Solomon this day, with our hearts on a trip of ‘No return’ as a result of the following: wealth, lifestyle, wife, husband, children, knowledge, talent- the list seems endless. All these things are not bad in themselves, but when they swallow our hearts from the true light, they become what’s not meant to be for us.

God has shown and given us everything, he needs our co-operation with him, likewise persevering with him down the lane of faith. It’s a daily struggle, especially with the rate of people dropping off the faith, we are in for a ‘smooth ride’ I must say. Well, in this part of the world that I am, the level of those leaving the faith is not as huge as in the western world, whom the faith was handed down to us.

So, where is our Perseverance and our Love for God?

May God help us to persevere till the very end, we ask this through Christ our Lord, amen.

Peace and Love of Christ!
