St. Casimir

Readings of the day:

1Peter 1:10-16
Psalm 98:1-4
Mark 10:28-31

Reflections:

St. Peter reminds us this day as we begin lent tomorrow of a need to live soberly. This is not living in distaste and sadness, but a sober life which draws out our sins and anything not in line with God’s will. This soberness which draw out the well of evil pleasures, refilling it with the richness of God.

With the hand of the Lord to support us in living a holy life, let us run to the Almighty father to grant us his grace, for without him, we cannot attain a tint of purity on our own. In the words of St. John Chrysostom, ” the fast of lent has no advantage to us unless it brings our spiritual renewal. It is necessary while fasting to change our whole like and practice virtue.” This should be our watchword as we begin the season of Lent tomorrow– its end is our purity(by the way, the lenten season is my favorite, it draws me to utmost reflection).

Whoever does practice virtue and abandonment to our Lord and Savior, can’t but be rewarded in the very end. Eternal life is the sweet wine for those who strive to live in accordance with the word of God.

May God help us, we Pray.

Peace and Love of Christ!
