Readings of the day:

Exodus 32:7-14

Psalm 106:19-23

John 5:31-47

Reflections:

We are answerable to God for all the actions we freely perform. – St. Jose Maria escriva

For our every actions, we either move a step towards God or we move way from him. Moving away from him, sin  takes a better part of us. it seems many are choosing the ‘moving away part’  with the way our society is becoming more secularized. It seems the days we are in, the molten calf people worship as of the days of old are: sex, wealth and power; leaving no space for true worship of God. This should never be, this shouldn’t be the case.in the words of St. John Chrysostom “God loves us more than a father, mother, friend, or any else could love, and even more than we are able to love ourselves.” Why pay him back with such love by choosing to walk in our stiff-necked path?

we shouldn’t forget so soon that the air that pass through our lungs can be exterminated within a second. of what use would our life be then, if not now to render due worship to God. of what use would the money and pleasures be?

May we then approach the heart of Jesus, who was sent by the father to lead us to himself to help us have a heart solely for God alone– to have God, all other things fall into proper place.

Peace and Love of Christ!

  1. Sex, wealth and power and the calf worship. This is a very interesting and true comparison to today’s society. I am always trying to find new ways to reach people with the truth of these subjects … especially wealth and power (affluence and influence). What do you think is the best of approach for reaching people with the true message of the Bible on these subjects?

    • Thanks for the comment. It is a good thing to know that you are reaching people on the truths of centering one’s heart for God. I believe to purge the heart of one thing, it must be replaced by another thing; to purge one’s heart of being overly attached to wealth and influence, it must be replaced by excessive love of God and neighbors.

We must Constantly remind ourselves that everything we possess, everything we can ever think of are gifts of God. We are called to be good stewards. As a good steward, our wealth and position must not only be for ourselves, but for the good of others too. There’s no offense in enjoying the gift that God has given to us, but it shouldn’t blank out God and others from it. There comes the practice of virtues, for a life striving to live a virtuous life would understand the true meaning of love of God and neighbors.
