Readings of the day:
Psalm 31:3-4, 6-8, 17, 21
Truth is a necessary ingredient to live a godly life. One true thing about Truth is that it would always be hard to hear and bear for those with a closed mind. It would always prick the minds of those in opposition with it(how quick one can find an alternative and build a refuge underneath it). Regardless of what the world choose to call truth, it would remain for all time and it would always be told by those ready to lay down their lives for it.
What you think is the right road may lead to death. Proverbs 14:12
The other way of truth, that very path leads to a dead end. An end, we may not be too proud of. On the other hand, if we allow truth to lead our lives, this truth would always lead us to God, it always does(no two truths contradict itself). It is quite easy to stray from the path of truth due to fear and other excuses that one can easily find, but living and speaking out for truth is the best thing we can do. It brings joy and peace yet it demands a lot, in the case of St. Stephen, it demands his life. Are we ready to live and speak the truth without reserve?
For those who stands for truth, they would always find God as their light, guide and refuge even when those around them just don’t get it.
May we then commend our spirit to the heart of Jesus, the sacred heart, to lead us by the hand as we stand for what is true, we ask this in his name, amen.
Peace and Love for Christ!
