The Sad end of the working bird

Staring across my window
I watched as a bird
Landed bashingly upon a tree
Terrified, shocked
and filled with acute grief
That lefts its tail of broken wings

The crash left unsettle its nest
As it brought more tearful pain
Far fear death would be late
Banging the gates at a lofty pace

Me far distance on
I bear a heart of mournful pulse
Dragging my beards with the
Crowded ones

We watched helplessly
The breath of the happy bird
Who flew tirelessly in search
Of its daily bread
In the morning wet

Lo! Lay the body
Of the working bird
Who suffered a heavy blow
From the hands of who knows when
That brought the end of his
Hard-earned life
